About HAAF
Since its inaugural on Jan 12, 2011 at the
legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY, the “Hope and A Future” Benefit
Concert for Haïti has become New York City's prime event commemorating
the tragic earthquake of 2010 and celebrating Haïti's resiliency and
culture. The 2011 concert, with endorsements from New York City Mayor,
Michael Bloomberg and Manhattan Borough President, Scott Stringer,
provided an inspirational, uplifting and cultural display of
performances by over 20+ international and national performers,
including Disco Icon, Gloria Gaynor, Ronald K. Brown's Evidence Dance
Company and Dickson Guillaume and Haitian Mass Choir. Presenting a
variety of expressions of jazz, R&B, inspirational, dance, spoken
word and Haitian music, the show truly is an eclectic mix. Now, with the
support of Brooklyn Borough President, Marty Markowitz, the 2012 Hope
and A Future Benefit Concert for Haiti moves to Brooklyn, the heart of
the Haitian community in New York. The concert will focus on the Community2Community Haïti Restoration and Transformation Pilot Project
based in Petit Goâve, Haïti. The concert brings this dynamic group of
artists together, in the spirit that is community on the second
anniversary of the devastating earthquake to raise funds for the
project.
The “Hope and A Future” Benefit Concert for Haïti
is executively produced by Elona J. Dotson for Psalmist Productions Inc.
(PPI) Founded in 2008, PPI is a producer of special entertainment
